Update Galaxy ACE S5830 with CM 9 ICS Android 4.0.3 Beta 7 Firmware

Samsung Galaxy Ace CM9 ICSGood news for Samsung Galaxy Ace S580 users, they can update there mobile to Android version 4.0.3 on the Cyanogen mod 9 based firmware. Beta 6 was release recently and Best 7 has finally been released. Also note that it is not an Official Firmware update and has not been released by Samsung officially.

In this very article we will be discussing what works, change log for beta 7, Pre0requisites and thewn finally after that the upgrade procedure. Lets see what this firmware update is compatible with.

Compatibility: This firmware Beta 7 update is only compatible with Galaxy ACE S5830 and not with asny outher mobile version.

Pre-requisites:

  • The minimum charge in the phone must be at least 60% to ensure that the phone doesn’t switches off due to insufficient or no battery.
  • Run the device on USB Debugging Mode. This can be done by going to Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging and tick the check box.
  • Disable all the antivirus software which may interupt the procedure by poping up in between.
  • Backup data so that it doesn’t gets lost/corrupted during the installation process. Below is the guide to backup data:
    • Backup SMS by using “SMS Backup & Restore app”.
    • Transfer contacts by syncing them with Gmail application
    • Store Call Logs
    • Copy Songs, Videos, Files from internal  External SD Card

Special message for users on Custom ROM

You must be on Rooted firmware, as this firmware will work on rooted firmware only. Ensure that Voodoo Lagfix or any other Lagfix is disabled in your mobile, it can be done from the recovery mode

Update Galaxy ACE S5830 with CM 9 ICS Android 4.0.3 Beta 7 Firmware

1. Download ICS Cyanogen Mod 9 Firmware Package to your PC from the link given

2. Connect your phone to PC via original USB cable and save the zip in your phone.

3. Disconnect your mobile to enter the mobile in recovery mode. Recovery mode can be entered by pressing Volume Up + Home button, then hold both simultaneously press the power button.

4. Once you have entered in recovery mode select “install zip from sd card” -> “zip from sd card” and the file which you placed in Step 2.

5. Once it has been successfully updated, select “+ + + + Go Back + + + +” and restart mobile by selecting “reboot system now”.
