Motorola Droid Razr users can update their mobile to the latest Android version i.e. ICS 4.0 officially. In the following tutorial we will be discussing how to update Motorola Droid Razr CDMA Android Phone with Official ICS 4.0 update.

As it is a official firmware update no rooting will be required and also there is no condition that your phone must be rooted once. And if you have rooted the device, the rooting access will be revoked after this update.

Caution: We are not responsible for any damage done to the mobile. It is advised to follow the steps carefully and do not add anything from your side which may cause injury to the device.

Compatibility: The update is only compatible with Motorola Droid Razr CDMA and not with GSM Version. So do not try this update only any version which my cause harm to the phone.

Pre-requisites:

  • At least 80% of the battery must be left, if it is not then charge the phone to ensure that it doesn’t gets turned off in between the update procedure
  • Run the device on USB Debugging Mode. This can be done by going to Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging and tick the checkbox.
  • Uninstall/Disable all the security suites in your PC so that they don’t interrupt in between
  • Backup data so that it doesn’t gets lost/corrupted during the installation process. Below is the guide to backup data:
    • Backup SMS by using “SMS Backup & Restore app”.
    • Transfer contacts by syncing them with Gmail application
    • Store Call Logs.
    • Copy Songs, Videos, Files from internal  External SD Card.

Official Update to Motorola Droid Razr CDMA Android Phone with ICS 4.0 version

1. First ensure that you are on Stock .173 firmware version and please check that your device is rooted by download Root Checker application from Play Store.

2. Install OTA RootKeeper from the Play store to backup Root access in your phone.

3. Download  cheesecake v2 app to your PC and after downloading, open it. Then click to change the server by selecting the staging.

4. Select the link which ends with 100 and then click check for updates after that cick on the Setup in order to agree with Terms and Conditions.

5. After agreeing with Terms and Conditions, you will get an update and after its done, you can enjoy ICS 4.0

6. If there are any problems after the update, enter the mobile device in recovery mode and clear cache.

7. After entering in recovery mode, perform a wipe cache by selecting Wipe data/factory reset and then select Wipe Cache partition and after that reboot the mobile. Select “reboot system now” to restart the device.

yes, install it on your phone and open it from there. I was confused myself at first but then figured it out quickly.
