March 20, 2012

BlackInfinitum 3

Samsung Galaxy S2 users can now happily update their device to ICS 4.0 with more added features as its a AOKP ROM. The Black Infinitum developers have successfully create a AOKP ROM with better performance and customization options. This ROM comes with a beautiful black background theme, which looks amazing on Super AMOLED Plus screen and is created by Razer(x)

This ROM is only compatible for Samsung Galaxy S2 I9100 and not for any other mobile. You can check mobile model by going to Settings » About phone.

Caution: Follow the instruction and installation procedure strictly. Do not do anything which you don’t know. It may have bad effect on your mobile and may corrupt it.

  • New theme
  • Built from AOKP source
  • Amazing new AOKP features
  • Replaced stock Mms.apk with CM9 one
  • Added CM9 file manager
  • Added CM9 music app
  • Added Nova and Apex launchers (both themed)
  • Custom bootanimation
  • Facebook sync is working
  • Removed Galaxy4.apk
  • Removed MagicSmokeWallpapers.apk
  • Removed HoloSpiralWallpaper.apk

  • Galaxy S2 must be rooted once and app “ClockworkMod recovery” should be installed
  • Backup data so that it doesn’t gets lost or corrupted. Follow the guide given below, in order to backup data:
    • Backup SMS by using “SMS Backup & Restore app”.
    • Transfer contacts by syncing them with Gmail application
    • Store Call Logs
    • Copy Songs, Videos, Files from internal  External SD Card
  • Charge the battery at least 50%, so that it doesn’t gets turn off in between.

How to Update Samsung Galaxy S2 with Black Infinitum 4.0.3 ICS Custom AOKP ROM

1. Download the latest version of the ROM from here. Its the official developed website. Also download Google Apps package.

2. Transfer the files without extracting them to the root of your SD card.

3. Switch Off your device and enter in recovery mode by pressing “Volume UP+Home+Power”. It will boot in ClockworkMod recovery. Use volume to navigate and home button to enter/select.

4. Perform a wipe by selecting wipe data/factory reset and than Yes. Let the wipe complete.

5. After the wipe is completed, select “install zip from sdcard” and browse the ROM file from your SD card in .zip format and confirm installation by tapping on “Yes” button.

6. After it is installed, go back to the screen and now instead of ROM file choose Google Apps package file name- gapps-ics-20120317-signed.zip

7. Reboot when done

Ok for some reason when I press on “update from SDcard” (there’s no “install zip from SD card”), it doesn’t show the SD card content but the actual phone content.
And I’ve tried copying the two files in the phone to install from there, but it doesn’t work, when I try to copy it says that the phone doesn’t allow such files to be copied into the phone.
Does anyone know what seems to be the problem?
Thanks in advance.

This means that you are using the Stock Recovery and not the CWM recovery.

Do a quick search on how to root, use the CF-ROOT kernel (Unsecure) it comes bundled with CWM recovery.

Once done, going to the recovery menu will yeild the proper results.
